Rihanna's "Who's That Chick" Music Video Review
Produced by David Guetta, "Who's That Chick?" utilizes a synth sound and some heavy Auto-Tune. "She's been a crazy dita/ Disco diva, and you wonder/ Who's that chick? Who's that chick?/ Too cold for you to keep her/ Too hot for you to leave her/ Who's that chick? Who's that chick?" she sings during the chorus.
Guetta dished to MTV News about helping Rihanna return to the world of dance music. "Well, you know, I'm a DJ, so I make beats that make you wanna dance," he said. "And I think she was one of the first to do that in that urban world, so you know, I think it would be good for her to do it again."
Jonas Akerlund (Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" and "Telephone") directed the clip, which finds Rihanna in the center of a colorfest of dancers, lights and creatures of all sorts as she parades around in a multicolored ensemble. She smiles most of the time while singing about "French kissing", "bad enough to take home" and "hard core" as lyrics pop up throughout the Japanese pop-inspired clip.
Rihanna offers two versions (day and night) of the video. According to a press release, fans can watch the late-night version of the clip by pointing their webcams at a graphic located on the back of the special-edition bags. Once the image is scanned, viewers will be able to personalize the "Who's That Chick?" clip depending on the angle they hold and move the bag.
This version has been combined into one clip available for your viewing pleasure. The one called the day version features her wearing colorful dress, and the other dubbed a night version sees her applying darker make-up and outfit. Both have the same party vibes with her romping around a room with several companions.
But don't expect an official music video release, as the clip is not affiliated with the pop star's forthcoming album - rather it's a part of an endorsement campaign for Doritos.
On Saturday, Rihanna took to Twitter to clear the air, saying, "Who's that Chick, is an online music video/commercial that we shot for Doritos and it got leaked.........I don't want u to get confused...Doritos is in no way connected to LOUD."
The collaboration is being described by the snack food company as "a one-of-a-kind, interactive music experience."
Ri-Ri told press that her favorite flavor is Spicy Nacho. "I just like spicy chips. So of course that would be my favorite one... One of my make-up artists [Mylah Morales] and I carry around chili all the time. It's sickening. I eat everything with red pepper."
